You can check in online between two to 24 hours before departure. While checking in, you'll also be able to select your preferred seat or add a frequent flyer number. Pretty much anyone can use the online checkin, even if travelling with children or in groups. (For the latter, this must be done by the "lead" or first named passenger) You will need your PNR (Passenger Name Record) which is a random jumble of letters and numbers, something like "2RS4TY". This is called the booking reference on Electronic Tickets, or, if you still have a paper ticket, it is located slap bang in the middle of the ticket. You will be required to enter any Advanced Passenger Information (API) for those countries that require it, viz: Oz, China, Korea, New Zealand, UK, the USA and Canada. You do not need a printer for Emirates check-in.
Please note that children under 5 are not accepted for the Unaccompanied Minors service. For the purposes of fares, any passenger aged 12 or over is considered an adult. However, passengers between the ages of 12 and 17 are not eligible to accompany Unaccompanied Minors in the absence of a passenger who is 18 years or older. In such cases, both passengers would be considered Unaccompanied Minors and the adult fare would be applicable for both.
"To avoid any inconvenience to your child, if there is another airline included in the itinerary, we recommend that the connecting time at transfer points not be more than four hours. If Dubai is the transfer point, the maximum permitted connecting time is eight hours. This is because we have a dedicated Emirates' Special Handling Unit that can take care of minors. We cannot accept Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passengers for journeys with transfer connections involving either an overnight stay at a transfer point or a transfer between two airports at the connecting point, unless the parent or guardian has arranged for the child to be met and cared for at the transfer point (and these arrangements are confirmed by the local Emirates office) or if the minor is travelling with an adult escort."
If you want to just change, review or add special services to a booking then you should use the "booking manager". Specific medical needs are covered by contacting the local Emirates office (use the local telephone directory!) Medical needs will probably require a "MEDIF" and/ or "Fit to Fly" letters from your healthcare practitioner (Doctor).
If you are new to online check-in then you may want to read some of our notes, first!

Welcome to Emirates online Check-in.
Unaccompanied Minors are children above 5 and under 12 years of age travelling alone, and are entitled to Unaccompanied Minors service, as long as they are travelling on a full adult fare ticket. In other words, you have to buy an ADULT ticket to use the UM service.

Emirates Economy Class has, in our opinion, plenty of space and comfort and is, perhaps, one of the best available. Personal seatback monitors provide up to 1,400 channels of news and entertainment programming. And to ensure that you're able to stay in touch while in transit, we offer SMS, telephone and email service at every seat. Emirates also have special lighting to reduce the effects of jetlag.
First Class Private Suites come fully equipped with a sliding door, a personal mini-bar, adjustable ambient lighting, and its own vanity table, mirror, wardrobe, and privacy divider for central suites. And if you want to stretch out and sleep, the crew will convert your seat to a fully flat bed with a mattress, so you can arrive at your destination totally refreshed. Private Suites are available on all Emirates A380 and Airbus A340-500 aircraft, and most Boeing 777 aircraft. First Class cabins on other aircraft offer flat-bed seats or deeply-reclining comfort.
Business Class has lie-flat comfort on selected aircraft with seats that convert into a flat bed at the touch of a button. Using the touchscreen controller, you can adjust your seat to suit your own preferences and comfort. Each seat extends to form a flat bed up to 79 inches long. Lie-flat Business Class seats are available on all Emirates A380 aircraft, and most Boeing 777 aircraft. Business Class cabins on other aircraft offer deeply-reclining comfort, or spacious sleeperettes.
Emirates have generous baggage policies. When flying with Emirates you can enjoy the following checked baggage allowances: 30 kg in Economy Class, and 40 kg in Business Class and 50 kg in First Class *but* check if you are changing onto another airline during your journey (interline) as this will affect how much you can take. Rules for North and South America are different. Click on the bag for the Emirates baggage page.
